135 Bowery is a 9 story building set in lower Manhattan near Sara D. Roosevelt Park. The mixed-use building will have commercial retail space on the ground floor and office space on the floors above.
Stratford Engineering was in charge of designing the foundation and superstructure of the building. The foundation consists of mat slabs and cast-in-place reinforced concrete walls which support the steel superstructure above. The floors are steel framed composite metal deck system. The lateral design for the superstructure is a dual system with steel moment frames in the front and rear of the building with cast-in-place reinforced concrete shear walls along the core of the structure.
